This blog is written and maintained by me, Aaron Cupil, an avid railfan and train lover since birth. Though I began photographing trains way back in the 90s it wasn't until 2003 that railroad photography became a passion (and an obsession) of mine. During those days I was still shooting film though digital cameras and SLRs were making huge inroads into the photography world.

From 2003 to 2006 I shot thousands of print and slide film images. In 2007 I shot my first (and consequently, only) digital railroad subject for that year. This trend continued into 2008 and 2009 where I shot only one digital railroad subject each of those years!

As I travel this great land I come across trains of every type on an almost daily basis. Because of my corporate and personal obligations, it's rare that I have time to actually "railfan" and seek out my favorite railroad subjects anymore. Instead, I simply "Fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants" and document whatever trains I can, whenever I can. Now, on the eve of 2012, I'm straying back to my original haunts and getting back to my "first" true photography love.... Railroading.

In this blog I share with you my day-to-day railroad encounters as I try to piece together the past and present railroad network. This blog is a journey, not a destination and on that journey we'll be looking back at days-gone-by as well as peering into the future. But no matter where this journey takes us, it's going to be one heluva ride getting there!....
